The company began operating in 2012, focused on giving geotechnical assistance to large wind power projects that are being carried out in the country. This year in particular has been the best year for wind power in Brazil, as just this year it has grown by 73%, managing to install 2.5 GW with the opening of 40 wind farms (Data from ABEE). The Brazilian Wind Energy Association (ABEE) predicts that wind power in the country will increase by 141%, reaching up to 7-8 GW of generated energy. Just going by the forecast of 2015-2018 39, 100 million reals (approx. 11,500 million euros) will be invested in these projects.
Since 2001, GEONOR has taken part in geotechnical campaigns for the construction of numerous wind farms all over the world, gaining important experience in all kinds of terrain. This knowledge of subsoil and the application of cutting-edge research techniques allow us to develop geotechnical designs for more efficient and economical foundations and roads.
The offices and Laboratory of GEONOR BRASIL are located in the city of NATAL, the capital of the state Rio Grande do Norte, in northeastern Brazil, in one of the two areas (along with the southern area) with the highest wind power in the country.
